Freelance Transcription Application Guide
Enuncia Global programme guidance · Updated 13 October 2026
Transcription turns speech into a written record. An application should show how you handle the audio and the requested transcript format, rather than treating transcription as interchangeable with translation.
State the work you can handle
List the spoken languages and varieties you understand well enough for professional work. Describe relevant experience with interviews, discussions, training recordings or other material. Say whether you transcribe in the spoken language or also translate transcripts into another language.
Explain your familiarity with speaker identification, timestamps and terminology research. Do not promise that every recording can be transcribed completely: overlapping voices, poor sound and missing context may require clarification.
Prepare a rights-cleared sample
Use a short recording you created or have permission to share. Explain the recording context and whether the transcript is verbatim or lightly edited for readability. Keep speaker labels and timestamps consistent with the sample brief.
Mark uncertainty transparently rather than guessing a name or number. If a project specifies its own notation, follow that specification. A portfolio sample should explain the convention it uses so a reviewer can interpret it.
- Recording language and transcript language.
- Verbatim or edited approach.
- Speaker labels and timestamp convention.
- Unclear-audio notation.
- Your role and permission to share.
A brief worth clarifying before acceptance
Ask about recording length, sound quality, number of speakers, desired output and deadline. A long clear presentation and a noisy group discussion can require very different effort. If specialist terminology is involved, ask whether a glossary is available.
Agree the fee basis, delivery requirements and treatment of unclear sections before starting. Enuncia reviews professional applications independently of any particular assignment; no work volume or standard rate is promised.
Apply with accurate availability
Select the transcription role in your professional application and describe the languages, subjects and sample context. Share files only through the agreed private route and remove confidential third-party material.
